This figure is well known in the world of figure skating. The 'Biellmann' can be performed either as a figure fixed position, both in a top or a spin (hence the name "Pirouette Biellmann"). The name comes from the Swiss athlete Denise Biellmann, multi medalist in the period of the eighties. Thanks to its perfect and harmonious running, one of the principal organs of figure skating, the International Skating Union (ISU), decided to appoint to the position of the pirouette as 'Whizzer Biellmann'.
